Thank You
Fellas and women that are attracted to women. I got a winner here today. Hopefully I can use this interview as pull to potentially, one day, be of service to this beautiful songstress. I literally saw one video cover of hers and said to myself, she deserves to be a blessing to my site. Here's a little glimpse of what this young beauty has to offer. She's smart, talented and not willing to compromise anything for success. Lets hope she stays that way. Enjoy.
Muncie, Indiana? No, that absolutely positively can't be true. I know your from somewhere else. I never knew all of that talent was bundled in Muncie.
Haha.. Yes, it's all true. I'm originally from Muncie, IN born and raised. You may be surprised at the talent that is hidden in that town. I just have this Y.O.L.O (You Only Live Once) mentality, and I'm stepping out on faith, unafraid to put myself out here and pursue my music career! & I know there's not much there.. but c'mon now, don't knock my city like that, Boom!
Ok, so I imagine a part of the world knows who you are as you take this journey but introduce yourself and what it is you do.
Welp, the name is Linzi Robinson, Lin Z on stage. I'm 23 years young, a singer & performer that is sure to entertain my fans!
What or who are your inspirations? Influences?
I grew up knowing who The Supreme's, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Gladys Knight & The Pips were. So as for my foundation, it's definitely there. Thanks to my mama! But as for today, I must say that my fellow musicians and friends influence me greatly. If it weren't for them persistently telling me in the past that I had a voice, and personality that people would love, I wouldn't be singing today. I didn't actually know that I could sing for the longest time. I would sing when no one was around, just for fun, but I didn't know that my voice was one that could be enjoyed by so many & I'm learning that more and more everyday. There hasn't been a day that goes by that I don't get a phone call, message, text or wall post from people that hear my tracks or covers and love them. So that too keeps me inspired.. & it's very much appreciated!
How long have you been singing? What would you consider to be your audience?
I've been singing for about two years now and recording for a year. Thus far my audience has been geared towards both a male/female R&B/pop loving population.
The R&B realm for women runs deep. So imagine it to be tough getting the ultimate exposure your looking for. Or is it?
Well for me to have only been in the recording game for a year now, I can honestly say I'm very impressed with the exposure and fan base and support that I've accumulated, and it's only going to grow with the more music I put out there for my audience. The love & support my fans have shown me is priceless and definitely doesn't go overlooked. So thank ya'll!
What separates you from the rest of the competition?
Well as much as you hear in the industry "sex sells", that is one major topic that I want to avoid singing about all together. Everyone does it! So, I'll leave that for another artist to perform. There's so much in the world going on today that people forget about, because we've got sex on our minds. As an artist, I recognize the ability to influence one way or another, so if I'm going to influence I'd like to do it in a positive manner on things that matter to me. So I plan to do just that.
Would you say that you more so sing for women, men or yourself?
All of the above. I know that with my most recent track released "Having Sex" (Trey Songz Invented Sex remake) it was for both men and women. Initially I thought about the ladies that may come across this track, so I wanted to send a message that "Hey.. it's okay to carry yourself as a lady, and simply kick it with a guy & not open your legs". I titled it "Having Sex" as a marketing strategy of course in order to attract the opposite sex, but once they listened to that track, they realized.. Man, Lin Z's not talking about HAVING SEX, she's talking about Not having sex! lol. Nonetheless, I think I got my greatest reviews from my male audience! So thank you gentlemen!
Ok, that's all fine and peachy but do you ever worry that at some point you'll have to compromise your values in order to achieve ultimate success?
Do I ever worry? Hmmmm.... no. I think about one of my favorite artist, India Arie and her success, and I realize that its not neccessary. She speaks about love, self-worth, and other social issues that people can truly relate to, and I can do just that.

You recently graduated correct? From where?
Well let me correct that, my school allowed me to "walk" this past May, and those of you in college know exactly what I'm talking about when I say that! lol.
So you sing better than you learn is what your saying?
Haha... Oh Boom. You're quite the comedian aren't you? Well, I actually starred in my first musical that semester and I allowed my focus to be completely taken over by acting and music. But for any of you that have taken Physio, you know it's a beast! Don't judge me, now.
I wouldn't imagine you plan on staying in Indiana if your serious about getting out there. Right?
100% correct! Once I'm complete with the business I need to take care of here in IN, I plan to make a big move to Los Angeles or ATL Shawtyy ;-). Both incredible industry platforms that I can even further get my name out here and have my music heard!
Lol, we gotta work on that "shawty" of yours. How can the people viewing this get in contact with you, book you or try to holler?
Well I do have a Twitter and Facebook account, both social networks that I'm low key addicted to lol. So people can definitely find me there. As for music and bookings, people can contact my engineer/producer Trea Burgess via email (burgess812@gmail.com).
You are single right? I don't want to have people thinking your available. I can't be to blame for their thirst.
Lol yes, I'm single.
Tell the fellas what it is exactly that appeals to your eye. There's some thugs viewing this, is that the move? We even have scholars that tune in. Or do you not have a type?
I'm into an attractive gentleman that is as driven as I am. I like a man with goals, dreams and one who is ambitious. It's extremely attractive when I see a man setting his goals high and going for them... genuinely grinding it out!
Have you ever been in love?
Definitely... it's a beautiful thing.
Well now that you've expressed yourself a little bit to the people and definitely gained some new fans. It's time for me to begin my pursuit of your singleness. Your very talented and this will definitely, positively NOT be the last appearance you have on BTA.
